31 Days of Prayer – Week 1

This is a follow-up post to “Let God Fill the Shoes.”

“As I felt the burden of raising my children, it’s as if God told me to stop stressing over my parenting skills and start praying for them more.”

“31 Days of Prayer” began as a simple way to pray for one specific thing in my children’s lives each day. While I know I should pray for my children regularly, I often end up crying out when I am frustrated as a parent or when things start to get bumpy.

God convicted my heart that rather than stressing over their outward displays of obedience and perfection I needed to focus my efforts on their hearts.

If you have someone in your life that you care deeply about and want to bring his/her name before the Lord, this guide might help you focus as you pray for their heart.

I hesitated to post a schedule or a list because I do not want to promote feelings of failure if someone cannot stick with it or complete the task. Do not feel overwhelmed by the list and pressure yourself to complete it straight through.

Take one prayer at a time.

Allow God to speak to you about how to pray for each attribute in your own heart or in the life of a friend or child. Let me encourage you, DO NOT check off each attribute as you pray. Prayer is not another task on a “To-Do List.” It is divine communication with our Holy God.

Accept the challenge and pray specific attributes over those that you love. It’s a priceless gift that you can give someone to call out his/her name before the Lord.

Prayer is our personal access to the throne room of God. You and I have access to that amazing place. Don’t allow anything to keep you from going there.

31 Days of Prayer – Week 2 will be posted next Sunday night. For this week take it one day, one prayer at a time.

If you will join me and pray for someone in your life by name regularly and specifically, leave a comment, like or share so that others can be encouraged to pray too!
