A Prayer Guide for Hurting Hearts
There are moments in life when there are no more words to utter in prayer. Shock, devastation, and a slew of circumstances pile up to make it feel impossible to move, or even pray.
Help might be the word you are thinking, but even saying it seems silly.
Sometimes you feel like screaming it or writing it on a sign and carrying it through your day to see if anyone will notice. But most of all you just want God to meet you right where you are in the depths of the struggle.
I don’t know what it is that takes you to this unspoken place of help, but I’ve been there too. I know what it’s like to have no more words, and seemingly no more prayers.
But I’m learning this is not a place without hope.
God is the giver of hope, so let’s walk together and see what hope looks like and maybe even gather the strength to say, help.
For the next four weeks I will offer a short prayer to help you know the next prayer to pray. It’s not a big lofty prayer with lots of words.
It’s simple steps to take when you do not know what to pray. And you might be surprised with how just a few words will help you connect with God just the way you need to in this season of struggle.
The Prayer Guide for Hurting Hearts is for you if:
- You want to pray but do not know what to say.
- Life has been so difficult that you are out of words.
- You are struggling to trust God but want to.
Yes, I need that!

I have had severe anxiety for over a year. I have tried several different meds but none seem to work. I am finding it harder and harder to pray. I feel guilty and l am afraid my faith is getting weak. Today is my birthday. I am a widow 78 years old.
