Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalm 23:6(KJV)

I pull the covers up over her little shoulder, and I lean in close for a goodnight kiss. Before I can reach for the light, her little hand grabs my arm. “Mommy, tell me a story.” Knowing these days of goodnight cuddles and fairy tale stories are going to pass quickly, I settle back down on the edge of her bed. I put my hands in hers and I look into her innocent eyes.

“Once upon a time there was a precious little girl. She was the prettiest little girl in the entire kingdom. Her mommy and daddy loved her so much that they did everything they knew to do so that the little girl would grow into a beautiful woman…”

I continued with an enchanting story of the princess who finally spread her wings and lived a beautiful life.

“When her life was complete she returned home to the kingdom where she lived happily ever after.”

We all know life is not a fairy tale filled with sparkling magic and enchanting kingdoms. But when it comes to Psalm 23:6 we get a glimpse into a real happily ever after and a real kingdom.

Though valleys and hard times are a part of the story, the ending is magnificent. David says, “I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” What a beautiful place to be! With the one caretaker who always provided, always cared, and always loved unconditionally.

When I start feeling like my life is less than a fairy tale, I know what to do. I reach for my Father’s hand and I ask Him to tell me a story.

He doesn’t rush to the light switch or hurry off tending to other things that seem more important. He sits on the edge of the bed and tells the most amazing stories I’ve ever heard. His Word speaks to my heart, soul, and mind with life-giving words. When I take time to listen close, I can feel Him near.

When I am afraid or a bit anxious about life, I remember the lovely story of the Good Shepherd. There are ups and downs in the story, but the ending is beautiful.

“I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Forever!

If you lay your head on your pillow and you know you need rest, love, and mercy, it’s time to reach out for the Shepherd’s hand and ask Him to tell you a story. The story of His kingdom is enchanting, miraculous, and, best of all, life changing.

Has God changed your life?

Reach for Him. Ask Him. Seek Him.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27(KJV)

“I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, Of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story because I know tis true.
It satisfies my longing as nothing else can do.”

Love & Blessings,

Micah
