When Change Is Difficult

I first wrote these words about when change is difficult when we moved from Baltimore to Virginia. It was a new season with a lot of change. As I sit now in our home in Tennessee, the principle still rings true and encourages my heart. I hope it encourages you too!  The wood beneath my feet was unfamiliar and the length between each step was new. A Thanksgiving Prayer from A to Z

Rather than thanking God for what He can do for me, today He prompted me to praise Him for who is with me. My prayer of thanksgiving changed from “Thank you Lord for this and that,” to something much more focused – a Thanksgiving prayer from A to Z. For some it’s the loss of a loved one who seemed to hold the family together, for others it’s separation in a relationship that held on for years. Perhaps it’s the words of a doctor that swirl inside your heart until you cannot handle another

The One Thing Your Child Needs

What is the one thing your child needs? Wisdom doesn’t come natural. It’s not something you can give to your child on their tenth birthday and expect them to cherish it, treasure it, and keep it forever. It’s a day-by-day, moment-by-moment process.  “A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.” Proverbs 1:5 (KJV) The hard part is that children have to learn wisdom for themselves. Although I would love to impart every ounce of wisdom I contain into my children, wisdom in itself does not come from me. Wisdom
