Fear of the Unknown

I can’t see tomorrow. Sometimes it’s exciting. Other times it’s down right terrifying. If I had known about the health issues then I could have prepared for the future. If I had known about the car accident I would have taken a different route. If I had known about my child’s problems at school I would have considered my options. If I had known about this, and if I had known about that before it happened, life would be so much easier. Life is unknown. We can plan, prepare and manipulate our lives, but there will always be things that rock our world,

Hope in Grief

Hope in Grief

It’s been a year since the passing of my dad. And I’ll be honest. I’m still grieving. But I’m finding hope in grief. Grief isn’t all tears and sadness. It’s a process of accepting reality and coping with the new that loss brings. And we all handle it differently. The common bond we each hold is the need to grieve our losses. When You Feel Overwhelmed

It’s been a while. There are many reasons why, but for now I’ll just share one – Foster Care. I don’t know how much of this journey I will share, but as God gives me words, I promise to let you in on the beautiful broken road we are walking. We live in a world where we are challenged to simplify, organize, and compartmentalize our lives into cute planners with holiday stickers and journals for every occasion. I’m the first to confess I love an adorable planner with a fun pink pen and a place to keep my list of

Problems, Problems Go Away!

Problems, Problems Go Away!

When it rains, it pours! Especially when it comes to problems in life. It never fails. Just as soon as one thing goes wrong, a series of difficult circumstances seem to follow. Ever been there? Why is it that problems always seem to come in sets of three? Strike 1! Strike 2! And by the time strike 3 hits, you’re already walking to the dugout. Sometimes I brace myself and think, “What’s going to happen next?” Or just when I think I can’t take one more thing…boom! The roof caves in. It’s just the way life goes. We all have

This is Not What I Planned

Can we really find peace when life doesn’t work out the way we planned? This is a part of a larger series. If you missed the other posts in this series, you can find them here: Week 1 – Peace in the Unknown Week 2 – What if I Fail? Week 3: This is NOT What I Planned The planner in me loves to see a calendar with every event written in pink ink with hearts, scrolling doodles, and bold underlining of the important things. The longer I live, I’m learning plans don’t always pan out the way we think
