What If I Feel Like Running Away?

What If I Feel Like Running Away?

Struggles seep in and the pressures of life weigh me down into the deep end of the pool until I can’t tread water anymore. Running away, taking a different course or road seems like the only way out.

I am faced with a choice. Choose to run or choose to believe God is with me in the deep water. That is when we have to realize God is there. He is with me in the deep end. He knows my struggles. He knows your struggles too. If I would allow God to be my lifeline at all times I would be much better off. I don’t have to struggle until I feel like running away and you don’t either.

God is with us!

Do you believe that? Do you know God is with you right there where you are?

In the chaos and confusion He is there. In the busy and mundane He is there. In the pain and turmoil He is there. Where are you today? Does it feel like God has left you? Ask Him to reveal Himself to you in a fresh way. Ask Him to prove to you that He is with you.

The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him. Proverbs 18:30

Sometimes, when we try to run away from our burdens and find rest on our own terms, God is quick to remind us that no fleshly rest will really do the trick. Although I may feel better after a long nap, or after coffee with a girlfriend, nothing can compare to resting in God’s arms. Even a get-away will not satisfy like God’s presence. There is no comparison. When we compromise time with God for time for ourselves we are forfeiting a precious relationship that can give us peace and rest like we have never experienced in our lives.

When I hear God drawing me toward Him I remember how sweet our time together is. Sometimes it ignites emotions I don’t necessarily enjoy expressing like tears, however it also brings sweet security and peace over my trembling soul. When I take control of my burdens I am often reminded that God has a different perspective. It is easy to stay focused on my current reality and miss God’s amazing hand at work.

When I finally open my eyes to His ways, I am amazed.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

Are you under pressure in a relationship, at a job or just overwhelmed with the reality of life? Don’t run away.

Try praying these words before you take another breath:

Dear Heavenly Father,

There are moments I don’t even have the strength to stand. Running, impossible. Other days, I wish I could escape. I know it’s wrong or at least it feels that way, but so does all of this. Life isn’t what it seems it should be. My heart is heavy. My mind is tired. I need you, but don’t feel I have the strength to call for you. I want to sleep knowing tomorrow will be better, but the unknowns feed me fear. The pain hurts again and tears return. To escape, to run, to not feel for just a moment – that seems divine. But then I return to reality. Please lift my load. Show me what to do. Guide my steps that seem impossible. Move my feet forward. I do not know what tomorrow holds, but I know I cannot face it alone. I need you. I desperately need you.

In Jesus name, Amen.

I need Him today. What about you?

If this has been an encouragement to you, pass it on to someone you love.

Love & Blessings,

Micah
