When Tomorrow Comes, but Heartache Stays
I pulled the covers up over my head and closed my eyes tightly. My mind embraced a new day, but my heart rejected the new tomorrow because I knew the things that made my heart feel heavy yesterday were still there today.
I can still feel the heaviness, the worry, the waiting and wondering if things will work out. The unknown things cause anxiety. Questions, and heartaches from a fresh new wave of trials make us want to go to sleep and dream of a better tomorrow. A day when life is good again and our hearts don’t hurt so much.
But when tomorrow comes and the heartache stays, how do we move through each day and live a life of power and peace with an unworried perspective?
It’s simple really.
Trust Him.
It’s complicated truly. These things in life that make us question “why” – they cause a heart to need something more. Oh we believe Jesus is able to deliver, and we know God is always with us, but in this trial, we struggle again to see Him.
Have you been there, squinting through the dark, long valley wondering if the light will shine again?
We look for Him through tear-filled eyes and we desire the peace we’ve known before. We long for Him with hearts full of care and we desperately need His comfort.
We search for Him in His Word – the only tangible thing we have from Him – and there we find an abundance of treasure that provides for every longing we possess.
No matter what your life holds, and how hard it might seem, God’s word is the healing balm that our souls need in every situation.
It doesn’t mean we won’t hurt again, or that life will change and get better.
It doesn’t mean every disease will be healed in this life or that justice will be seen in our generation.
It means we live empowered to press on through a strength only known by those who believe.
It means we lift our quivering chins and trust that God will provide the peace and power to make it through this struggle that seems impossible.
So when we are in need like we are,
I know what to do.
Look to Jesus.
Seek His face.
Search for Him like a hidden treasure.
I have the secret code, the hiding place of His love, and I know His power is divinely present and voice activated by His children.
When you feel like pulling the covers up over your head another day, here are a few verses to help you face the new tomorrow:
Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Psalm 37:2
Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word. Psalm 119:114
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
Psalm 121
Whatever your situation, whatever your care, God’s power is strong enough to carry you through. I pray you feel Him so very near today.

So incredibly beautiful and true. Thank you friend!
Beautiful message, touched my heart.
Thanks for the encouraging scriptures Micah. I’ve also learned to meditate and rest in God whenever i’m going through a trial or test.
